"I have a mixed style to painting which best describes my personal approach to picture making. You might say that it is a blend of impressionism, and abstraction."
Jen’s paintings are characterized by rich, vibrant colours and decisive brush strokes. In high school Jen discovered a love for oil paints. After high school she completed a Minor in Fine Art at the University of Waterloo. She did a post-grad diploma in Therapeutic Recreation at Georgian College and then took a sabbatical from painting to raise a family in Oro-Medonte and to begin a career running a day program for people affected with memory loss. For 20 years Jen has been helping people with Alzheimer disease and other forms of Dementia re-discover their creative abilities.
Jen has recently experimented with rain and night scenes and is moved by the feeling that the painting emotes. When given the choice Jen would rather paint with a palette knife than with a paint brush because it allows her to create a thick, layered effect.
Jen was born and raised on a dairy farm in Oro-Medonte was artistically awakened in farming country. She is afforded wonderful opportunities for outside exploration and painting. She has also painted scenes of locally recognized buildings and streets such as Orillia downtown shops, Couchiching Beach and The Opera House.
Jen’s studio is located in Oro-Medonte
